The Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma (PDTD) is a modular programme delivered online and at RAD headquarters in London.
You will study full-time for three consecutive months and complete two compulsory modules to the value of 60 credits, one of which will be studied by distance learning. The programme is designed to build on your significant experience as a professional dancer. Through a range of practical and theoretical lectures, seminars and workshops, you will be introduced to current learning and teaching theories and strategies as applied to different dance teaching contexts.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a presentation, a practical teaching examination, followed by a viva voce – critical reflection and written assignment.
Further study and career opportunities
Graduates from the Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma programme may apply to study for the BA (Hons) Dance Education* or Master of Arts in Education (Dance Teaching*) depending on their individual background and experience.
Award
Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma and eligibility for registration with the Royal Academy of Dance.
Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma London & China applicants must have the following: Experience in professional dance companies; Sound Classical Ballet training; English Language Proficiency test required for applicants whose first language is not English; Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma China will be taught and assessed in Mandarin. Some sessions may be taught in English with Mandarin translators.
