A fast-paced and highly practical ACCA-accredited master’s degree programme. Ideal for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of accounting in the global context.
This master’s programme demands a great deal from its students, so it may be ideal if you want to cover a lot of ground in a short time. You’ll learn to operate effectively within the global marketplace, enabling you, upon successful completion, to pursue a career in accounting or to further your knowledge in the field of accounting and finance. You may have just graduated in accounting or a related subject, or perhaps you’re already an accountant but want to develop your knowledge base into broader management roles. What’s more, both MSc Professional Accounting and MSc Professional Accounting with Extended Professional Practice have been awarded nine ACCA exemption accreditations.
This master’s course is linked to SAP HANA. You’ll also learn using Bloomberg terminals and S&P Capital IQ – which are routinely used in major organisations around the word. Where better to study accounting than in the heart of London’s financial district?
Extended Professional Practice
This course offers the option of undertaking Extended Professional Practice. Our Extended MSc courses are delivered over 18 months instead of the usual 12 months, giving you the opportunity to undertake a longer internship* or project as part of your course.
You will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how businesses operate, how to apply theory to real-world scenarios, and how best to prepare you for the world of business with confidence.
Our Talent Team are here to support you in securing an extended placement with the right employer. Whether you are looking to join a small business or a large organisation, the team will work with you to help you achieve your internship goal.
Your placement will be full-time, with students expected to work approximately 35 hours per week.
The Extended Professional Practice course lasts 5 semesters; during semesters 1 and 2 you will undertake 120 taught credits on-campus; in semesters 3 and 4 you will undertake the placement; in the final semester, you will take a 60-credit project module in which you will write up your internship report and research findings.
Career prospects
Jobs in accounting and finance are competitive, so this degree is designed to provide the edge you need to secure a great career in accounting or strategic management.
That’s because this course is fully connected to the workplace – for example, it’s been designed with the help of industry experts and is aligned with the requirements of the major professional associations (such as ACCA, ICAEW and CIMA). Graduates have well-developed powers of analysis, clear perspectives on strategy, and highly effective communication and research skills. These are very much in demand from employers in private, public and third-sector organisations around the world.
You’ll have access to career-building support including entrepreneurship, CV-writing and interview skills. As a postgraduate student, you’ll be eligible to apply for our ‘High Flyers’ programme, designed to develop particularly talented students.
A second class honours degree (2:2) or equivalent. Applications from candidates with relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis. Work experience is desirable but not essential.
