The best aspect of my time at Canterbury Christ Church University has been the strong sense of purpose and community. As a Primary Education student, I have never felt like I am just completing assignments for grades, everything we study connects directly to the responsibility and privilege of shaping young lives. That link between theory and real classroom practice has been incredibly motivating. School placements have been particularly transformative. They have pushed me beyond my comfort zone, strengthened my resilience, and helped me discover the kind of teacher I aspire to be, reflective, patient, and committed to creating inclusive, engaging learning environments. Each placement has reinforced why I chose this career in the first place. Another standout aspect has been the support from lecturers. There is a genuine culture of encouragement at CCCU. I have felt seen as an individual, not just a student number. Academic support, wellbeing awareness, and constructive feedback have helped me grow not only academically, but personally. The most challenging aspect has been balancing placement, academic deadlines, and part-time work. There have been moments where the workload felt intense, particularly during overlapping assessment and placement periods. However, these challenges have strengthened my time management, organisation, and perseverance, all essential qualities for a future teacher. Overall, my university experience has shaped me into a more confident, reflective, and resilient individual. It has prepared me not only for a career in teaching, but for lifelong learning and contribution to my community.

The course is great, and the teachers are lovely. The location is beautiful, and I love having loved ones visit. Proud to be a CCCU student.

Canterbury is such a lovely city. It’s the perfect size and feels really community-focused. The university is right at the heart of it and there’s so much around, from the cathedral and library to endless little shops, cafés, and quirky spots. It’s a really welcoming place with so much character, and honestly there isn’t much I would change about it.

Facilities are good and accommodation wise, issues are sorted very quickly. Lecturers are very kind, supporting and very knowledgeable in their fields. In terms of student life, there are many sports and societies to choose from, socials every Wednesday for sports and uni-run events.

Good connections around the city with jobs and specialists coming in. Most staff are kind and care about the students and what they are teaching, however some staff make helping you seem like an inconvenience which can be a problem.
