If you’re a graduate wanting to make a positive impact on the lives of children, train with us to be a primary teacher, one of the most rewarding career choices you’ll ever make.

Over a 10-month period, this course will:

Prepare you to develop a deep understanding of how children learn and equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a confident and successful Early Career Teacher

The 3-7 pathway will give you the opportunity to develop an understanding of the Early Years and Key Stage 1

The 5-11 pathways, will focus upon developing your knowledge of teaching Key Stages 1 and 2

Your teaching experiences

You’ll develop your own teacher identity and teaching style thanks to our critically reflective learning approach. This will empower you to deliver innovative lessons with confidence. Intensive training and practice opportunities throughout this course will focus on areas identified as educational priority areas for example:

Behaviour management

SEND

Systematic synthetic phonics (SSP)

Early Reading

This will enable a richness and scope to allow you to be immersed in the focus of the school experience.

5-11 Physical Education with QTS pathway

If you have a passion for physical activity and sports, you could choose to train on our 5-11 pathway with the additional specialism of physical education (PE). You’ll use our superb sports facilities as you learn to promote, shape and develop the teaching of PE within a primary school setting. You’ll gain all the experience of becoming a primary teacher in this age range with the addition of specialist PE knowledge. We are one of only a small number of universities nationally to offer this option.

Career

Our student teachers go onto be an essential part of the education workforce, locally, nationally and globally. On completion of this course, you’ll have achieved qualified teacher status, so you’ll be able to work as a primary school teacher. Your skills and knowledge will enable you to make a real difference by educating and inspiring future generations.
