This course will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to make a real difference as a teaching professional to the learners you will support.
The programme emphasis is placed on the connection between practice and theory. Through developing your skills in reflective practice you will be able to explore ways to develop and enhance your potential as an educator.
Please Note:
The Professional Certificate in Education and Training (PCE) requires an appropriate period of professional experience to have been completed prior to entry and a minimum of a Level 3 qualification.
The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Training (PGCE) requires an undergraduate degree.
What will I learn?
You will develop core skills, then move onto more detailed consideration of aspects of curriculum development, quality assurance measures and examining contemporary issues within post-compulsory education.
Modules to be studied will include:
Teaching Toolkit – explore some of the key teaching skills such as lesson planning, setting learning objectives and monitoring student success within the classroom.
Additional Learning Needs & Inclusive Practice – develop awareness of how to support learners with additional needs within post-compulsory education.
Managing Behaviour and Supporting Learner Engagement – explore strategies for positive behaviour management and intervention strategies relevant for post-16 learners.
Digital Innovation and Professional Practice – explore some of the ways in which digital learning tools can be used to enhance and support the learning experience and your own teaching practice.
Action Research Project – investigate and explore an issue of professional interest to you and to present your findings in an appropriate context.
Professional Development and the PCET Practitioner – this module aims to support you in considering the role of professional development including how to develop your own professional profile for future employability and career progression.
Level 3 qualification is normally required, but not essential depending on ability and experience; Life skills, experience and maturity are important; Direct admission for applicants who have been out of full-time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience; Each application is considered on individual merit; Entry may be subject to interview.
