This course equips you for the practical demands of teaching in the Further Education and Skills sector, building your skills and confidence to work with post-14 learners in a vast range of educational settings. Study on a course rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for its exceptional standard of training and assessment, designed to help you advance your teaching career and open doors to promotion or further study at master’s level. You’ll develop your skills through a dynamic blend of practical teaching experience, theoretical learning, and reflective discussions, ensuring you graduate as a confident and capable educator. With flexible study routes available, you can choose to complete your PGCE full-time at the University or part-time at one of our partner colleges across the wider community. Throughout the programme, you’ll be supported by an experienced and highly regarded teaching team, known for the quality of their training and the significant impact of their research in education.
Applicants are required to hold an Honours degree with a minimum classification of 2:2 in a subject area relevant to the Further Education and Skills sector, such as psychology, law, media, sports, or music technology. Candidates with pending GCSE results will be considered, and equivalency tests in English and Mathematics will be accepted. Level 2 equivalency qualifications in English and Mathematics will also be accepted, provided they are recognised by the Education and Training Foundations QTLS eligibility criteria.
