Politics and International Relations with International Foundation Year - September entry - BA (Hons)

University of Reading

Reading Uni has a beautiful and green campus and is a lovely place to be. Decent facilities and a decent politics course, good lecturers/teachers. however, the student union does seem to be run quite inefficiently and societies do have problems with it.

I have loved my time at UoR! As a student that didn't get to go on campus tours due to COVID, I was limited in my understanding of what a university should offer, however during my time at Reading I have quickly understood how inclusive and enthusiastic the staff are. I am not a huge drinker, so it is disappointing to see the Reading SU mainly focuses on club nights and drinking events, however they are still active with the student community throughout the year

There are a lot of different societies in the University and it helps a lot especially for new students. Apart from that there are plenty of extra curricular activities in here. One of the most exiting parts of University is its nature, and greenery. In addition student support centre works very well, as an international student I found it a bit hard to cope with the new system of education and new county in general and got plenty of support from University for which I am very grateful.

The campus is great (very green), the library is modern and the staff are very supportive. The worst part of the lack of study space outside of the library which gets very busy.

There is a lot of support available for students throughout their studies, especially in regards to mental health. There are good facilities for students on campus such as the library, cafes and book shop. Students can also shop for amenities in the on campus food shop and use the on campus Santander bank. There is also a small pub which is also good and the opportunity to make use of the sports centre. In terms of improvement there could be more student friendly pricing in the cafes and there could be a canteen for students to eat an actual meal at a reasonable price. Many students face food insecurity and this affects learning negatively. It can be the case that many can not afford the high prices for a small amount of food. And its usually the case that many are embarrassed to say that their financial situation is difficult.
