Police leaders today must operate in a transparent, ethical and highly accountable environment where their decisions are subject to scrutiny from politicians, the media, the public, and even their own colleagues. The Policing Vision 2030 sets out a roadmap for professionalising policing over the next five years, recognising the complex social and political challenges facing modern forces. The MSc in Police Leadership, Strategy and Organisation has been designed to meet the professional development needs of current and aspiring police leaders, as well as individuals with the potential to shape the future of the profession. Aligned with the College of Policing PEQF, the programme aims to cultivate critical thinkers and elevate leadership capability across the policing workforce. Combining insights from business, management, criminology, and social sciences, this course addresses the real-world complexities of contemporary policing at a time when public trust, community engagement, and organisational culture are under intense scrutiny. It equips you to become a positive force for change within your organisation, offering far more than traditional public sector or generic leadership training by providing an in-depth understanding of key issues such as accountability, independence, effectiveness, performance, and transformation. Through this programme, you will be challenged and inspired to reach the highest professional standards and develop the leadership mindset required to guide and collaborate with the next generation of police officers.
Applicants are normally required to hold an appropriate undergraduate degree with a minimum classification of 2:2. Consideration will also be given to applicants who can demonstrate significant experience through work or voluntary engagement in the justice sector, or who hold a professional qualification that enables them to work in the justice sector at a graduate level or above.
