Podiatrists are healthcare professionals who specialise in the foot, ankle and leg, leading patient care through the whole journey including prevention, diagnosis and treatment, with the aim of improving mobility, independence and quality of life for patients.The Podiatry degree at Cardiff Met offers a counterbalance between theory and practice that embeds technology and a range of creative learning and teaching approaches. Our facilities are currently being updated to reflect a modern technological approach that integrates interdisciplinary working and learning community incorporating Virtual Reality and Simulation that creates a variety of learning modes and environments for all students. As you go through the degree you will gain experiences with different sectors for health care and opportunities to explore your own interests through national and internal placements. All of these experiences facilitate and prepare you for graduation and working within modern day podiatry and health care either within the NHS or the private sector.We have placements across the NHS University Health Boards within Wales, as well as opportunities to visit private practices that focus on sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. External placements occur in all three levels of the programme. Some students have had the opportunity to to travel to Singapore and New Zealand, experiencing podiatry at other Health Boards.
