This postgraduate programme integrates the advanced clinical, academic and research components of musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice. The emphasis is on the management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. Flexibility in the selection of modules allows for physiotherapists with particular interests to be accommodated.
About this degree
This MSc offers the opportunity to extend your understanding of key areas in physiotherapy, including challenging the foundations of established but poorly justified treatments, developing and undertaking clinical research and practice, learning about new and emerging treatment options, and enjoying the mentorship of recognised experts in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Students on the MSc Physiotherapy Studies: Musculoskeletal programme undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.
Careers
Recent graduates have pursued careers in academia, research, management or furthered their clinical practice. Several students have used the MSc as a springboard for gaining funding to undertake PhDs at a range of high-ranking London universities. Graduates have also secured senior positions, such as team leads and clinical specialist posts within major London hospitals.
Employability
The programme aims to transform the way you think about expert patient care, and the theoretical foundation for musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinical practice. You will receive rigorous, evidence-based training in best research and clinical practice, which provides you with the skills and knowledge to apply for clinical, educational or research posts.
Normally a minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in physiotherapy; or an approved Diploma in physiotherapy together with evidence of appropriate clinical and/or teaching experience and a commitment to continuing professional development.
