Course overview

Discover how physics and artificial intelligence are deeply interconnected on our Physics with Artificial Intelligence BSc. Just as physicists develop mathematical models to describe and predict natural phenomena, AI uses similar computational techniques to learn from and interpret vast datasets. This symbiotic relationship means that advances in one field often directly inform and accelerate progress in the other.

Designed to provide you with the specialist skills you will need as a professional, modern physicist, you will benefit from a suite of practical and professional development modules embedded throughout our curriculum. From scientific programming and writing to dedicated career-focused sessions, we will provide you with the knowledge, tools and connections to develop a strong foundation for your future career.

Gain experience in industry

In an increasingly competitive job market, employers are seeking to recruit employees who have high-level knowledge, skills and an understanding of the workplace. In between year two and three of your studies, there is the opportunity to undertake a placement, gaining valuable practical experience. This will enable you to apply the skills and theories you have learnt to real situations in the industrial workplace and enhance your employability. Throughout your placement you will be supported by an academic advisor and a placements and project manager. If you don't think you can commit to a full year on placement, our Flexible Work Placement module has built-in flexibility on when and how you complete your placement, enabling you to balance your time in industry around existing demands.

Foundation year

Our Foundation Year provides an excellent alternative route to Keele, providing a unique opportunity to better prepare for your chosen degree, and with guaranteed entry onto your undergraduate course once you successfully complete your Foundation Year.

This extra year of study can improve your academic skills, expand your subject knowledge, give you a better understanding of higher education and, perhaps most importantly of all, build your confidence.

Your future career

95% of Keele students are in employment or further study within 15 months of finishing their studies (HESA Graduate Outcomes, 2019/20)

You will graduate with the analytical, problem-solving, mathematical modelling and computational skills that employers value in a variety of industries including finance, healthcare, engineering, material science, space science, and research.
