The course has a clear focus – we want you to think beyond the traditional physical education (PE) curriculum and to become agents of change in the environments you go on to work in. While traditional activities are integral to the PE curriculum, they don’t suit everyone, so we have scope for more inclusive, innovative and challenging activities to be considered within the school environment. We’ll help you develop knowledge and understanding in a range of activities, both traditional and non-traditional. We want to develop your interest in both primary and secondary PE to allow you to become a teacher, leader and educator for the future – who inspires young people to participate in PE, physical activity and sport. Throughout the course you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of a broad and varied range of topics based in theory and practice.Throughout your 3 years of study, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside teaching professionals. We have strong industry links, both locally and nationally – supporting you in your development, providing new opportunities and experiences, and allowing you to put theory into practice. We also have employability weeks delivered by the Your Future Plan Team – take part in workshops, enhance your CV and develop your practice. Each year this initiative is broad and varied, enabling you to consider a more holistic approach to your education beyond the academic course content. Students often use these weeks to develop their subject knowledge or listen to speakers who can enhance their professional profile.
