You'll be taught by a team of experienced professional photographers who will support you on this dynamic and friendly course. Using industry-standard darkrooms and studios you’ll be encouraged to explore many areas of photographic process; from analogue portraiture to studio still life, experimental processes to high quality commercial image making. Our degree will open your eyes to different aspects of photography and help you understand images from a fresh perspective. From developing practical photographic skills to exploring visual research, this specialist course will enable you to understand and appreciate photography as a means of communication and creative expression. Staff are on hand to nurture your development as a practitioner whilst offering exciting opportunities to exhibit your work and gain real world insight from our roster of guest speakers. With sound technical understanding and ambitious idea development you’ll be well equipped for a career in the creative industries.

- We welcome visiting professionals to talk about their experience of working in the creative industries. - 100% of our Photography students were in work or further study 15 months after finishing their course. (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2024) - Our Photography course is accredited by The Association of Photographers (AOP). - Our wide range of industry standard equipment is available for use within taught sessions and also on loan for independent study. - There are regular exhibition and gallery-based sessions, including the opportunity to exhibit your own work.

You’ll have access to a range of excellent facilities, including our dedicated creative arts building, Daphne Oram, which houses: - Digital imaging suites - Fully equipped darkrooms - Photographic studios - Mirrorless canon cameras including R5’s, Fuji GFX digital medium format, a selection of analogue cameras in large, medium and 35mm formats - Study areas

This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
