The School of Economics is a leading partner in two research centres, the Centre for Competition Policy – at the forefront of policy formation in competition economics internationally, with advisory links with many national competition authorities – and the Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science – part of the Economic and Social Research Council Network for Integrated Behavioural Science. Staff research interests in Economics include:
• Big data methods
• Collective decision making and group formation
• Competition in digital markets
• Development and environmental economics
• Dynamic macroeconomics
• Economics of networks
• Empirical evaluation of competition/competition policy
• Experimetrics
• Financial economics and econometrics
• Heuristics and biases in decision making
• Industrial organisation
• Origins and consequences of conflict
• Strategic reasoning and identity in groups and teams The School of Economics is fully committed to developing the potential of our PhD students. Training includes core modules that reflect state-of-the-art knowledge in multiple fields of economics. We provide strong supervisory support and we stimulate PGR students to become an integral part of a vibrant research environment in which they can regularly present their own research work in internal events. We suggest you look at the School's website, check out some academics and read up on some of their publications. We recommend that you identify at least one member of staff at UEA who might be your supervisor and that you contact them, to express your interest and discuss your research proposal. You will need to submit a research proposal of no more than 2000 words with your application.
