Our PhD/MPhil Biomedical Imaging Sciences programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Biomedical Imaging Sciences. Within the field of biomedical imaging sciences, established research programmes exist in neuroimaging, cancer imaging (including mammography) and musculoskeletal imaging. A particular strength across imaging modalities and disease areas is an emphasis on image reconstruction, image quantification, pharmacokinetic analysis of the imaging data and the application of computer vision to biomedical imaging. Links with the Nuclear Medicine departments at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust enable the set-up of research projects embedded in clinical environments. The University's imaging facilities principally comprise pre-clinical and clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) led by the installation of a new clinical combined PET/MR scanner.
