If your passion lies in researching, our Masters by research degree provides the opportunity for academic independence. You'll focus on your individual project and have the opportunity to engage with some advanced taught modules. The focus of your work will be an independent research project. We provide training which will equip you with skills in a wide range of research methods to support your growing expertise. Your research will culminate in a dissertation of up to 30,000 words.You can take advantage of advanced taught modules to bolster your background knowledge in history. Your supervisor will help you to choose suitable modules at the start of your course.
You should have, or be about to complete, an MA in History or a relevant subject with a distinction or very high merit. We'll also consider applicants who have longstanding work experience in their field equivalent to a Masters qualification. This will be demonstrated by CV, interview and references.
