The School of Medicine and Dentistry was placed within the top seven UK institutions in all Units of Assessment – Clinical Medicine Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care and Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy- during REF 2014.Barts Cancer Institute currently consists of six research centres, driven by a strong translational theme, with emphasis on specialised research areas, which focus on specific cancers. At the forefront of a number of scientific and medical discoveries, the Institute is one of the largest of its kind in the UK. These students carry out an original research project in one of our Institute laboratories at Charterhouse Square campus. There are a wide variety of funding oportunites available, including research grants, college studentships and international scholarships. A first-class honours degree in Mathematics or Statistics or the equivalent qualification from an overseas institution. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, QMUL also considers recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualification. Ideally you should have a more advanced qualification such as MSci, MMath or MSc, in which case we expect at least an upper second in your undergraduate degree with a merit in your postgraduate degree.
