The astrophysics group is home to one of the strongest star formation groups in the UK, comprised of members with extensive experience in their field. The research at Leeds is primarily focused on the fields of star and planet formation. Full description Star formation is studied through observational and theoretical approaches Leeds has experts in the use of numerical simulations and hydrodynamic codes as well as specialists in radio, infrared and millimetre observations. Through work on circumstellar discs the group also places emphasis on planet formation research, while exo-planetary atmospheres are studied using our advance atmospheric codes. The Astrophysics group use world-leading telescopes across the spectrum from the radio to X-rays, state-of-art magnetohydrodynamic models, astrochemical models, and planetary atmosphere models running on large computer clusters to study: o massive star and cluster formation o proto-planetary disks around young stars o planetary atmospheres o chemistry in star- and planet forming environments o massive evolved stars prior to their SN explosions o feedback from stars on local and galactic scales o galactic Structure
