The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics at Aberystwyth University is a three-year programme that gives you the platform to conduct original academic research that makes a new contribution to your specific field of study. You can make new discoveries, test new theories and push the boundaries of current knowledge and understanding. During your first year, you will complete our Social Science Research Training programme that will set you up with the skills and knowledge to successfully complete your PhD. Your research will be guided by a supervisory team, who will help you refine your research proposal, and guide you in data collection and analysis. At the end of your studies, you will have a viva voce exam (a verbal defence of your thesis).
Tuition Fees are subject to an annual increase. Students should be aware that on some courses there are additional charges during your studies for field trips and use of additional resources.
