We have a number of internationally respected research groups within Chemical sciences at Keele. Collaborations are numerous with academic and industrial partners in the UK and overseas, including for example close ties with the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France - the world’s leading facility in neutron science and technology, and with AstraZeneca - one of the world’s foremost pharmaceutical companies. Keele leads the HyDEX project, a multi-partner Research England funded programme focussed on establishing a hydrogen economy in the Midlands through research, training, and partnership. We have established a low-carbon hydrogen production facility with refuelling capabilities on-site, which is powered directly by renewable electricity from Keele’s energy park. This is closely linked with ongoing research in electrolysis, advanced materials, and decarbonisation. Facilities The Birchall Centre is home to academics researching materials science, inorganic chemistry, and applied catalysis. The labs host a range of equipment for materials synthesis, electrochemical testing, characterisation, and product analysis. With a particular focus on sustainable energy materials, the centre fosters a collaborative environment for fundamental and applied sciences. International students can't study part time at Keele. They are only eligible for full time study.
Students require an Honours degree with a first or 2.1 classifications, or the equivalent if you have been educated outside the UK. Any other academic and/or professional qualifications you may have are also considered, and in some cases form an integral part of the entrance requirement.
