Our pharmacy degree will prepare you for a career as a pharmacist. You’ll learn about patient care by studying basic and applied science, and clinical and professional practice.
If you are interested in studying the MPharm programme but do not meet the entry criteria to enter directly, this course is for you.
The MPharm with Preparatory Year is a 5-year course, specifically designed for students who have not taken all of the necessary A level subjects or for students who have been disadvantaged during their secondary education. The MPharm with Preparatory Year includes a year of foundational study and prepares you for the MPharm course.
Graduates of the MPharm programme are well-prepared for diverse career paths. After completing their foundation training and registering with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), many go on to work in community or hospital pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry, or primary care. Others find roles in the armed forces, prison services, or academia. Opportunities also exist in specialist areas such as oncology, mental health, and paediatrics, often following further training.
This programme may include a range of learning activities such as on-campus teaching, practical sessions, workshops, placements or field-based work. These activities form part of the core learning experience requirements.

Avery Hill Campus offers students a relaxed environment in the leafy London neighbourhood of Eltham and is only 30 minutes by train from central London. Everything is on-site and there are many students living on campus so it's a lively place to be.
Medway Campus is a historic site with redbrick buildings in north Kent. Students live, work and socialise on-site. There's a shopping centre across the road and the train to London takes 45 minutes.
There are hundreds of degree courses to choose from in a wide range of disciplines. Many courses offer a placement year option, giving you the chance to gain career-enhancing industry experience. There are also opportunities to earn while you study with the Student Job shop scheme. We also offer up to £4000 of financial support for those who are eligible, with up to £1000 towards travel costs.
