If you want to be involved in the areas of drug research, testing and development then pharmacology could be the course for you. Pharmacology is the study of how drugs act on the human body and vice versa. It is the science of drugs, as well as their physical and chemical properties. The course will cover the drugs that affect major systems of the body including the central nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems. Topics include pharmacological techniques, toxicology and anticancer drugs. Through this course, you will gain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of drug classes, safety and efficacy and drug action. It will also give you a sound understanding of the drug development process. The foundation year course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to continue onto your Honours degree. You will study a range of subjects that will underpin your future study and also gain valuable experience of university life, with full access to campus facilities. Successful completion of the year allows you to progress straight onto Level 4 of this course.
