This course has been newly developed in response to the NMC (2022) Standards for specialist practice
and the growing need for practitioners to respond to both the community and public health policy agenda.
This programme enables any nurse registered on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
professional register, to qualify and practice as a Specialist Practitioner within the identified field of
District Nursing.
Within this context of practice is for health care professionals to develop a comprehensive
range of skills develop and lead population and individual based community health services, tackle
inequalities in health, prevent ill health and work in partnership with individuals and communities
Career Opportunities
On successful completion of the programme students will be eligible to have their specialist practice qualification and prescribing qualification recorded with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
