This course aims to support students to refine and develop professional skills and knowledge within the context of pre-school children and their families in community settings. The PgD Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) training is designed to meet the political, organisational and professional demands of delivering child-centred services reflective of contemporary practice.

This course is designed for registered nurses and midwives who want to specialise in Health Visiting. In addition, the course complies with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Proficiency for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visiting) requirement for entry to part three of the NMC register.

After graduation, our alumni generally pursue roles with NHS service providers that are commensurate with the professional qualification of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor).
