Designed with professionals in mind, the Roehampton PGCert provides a highly flexible programme of study aimed at students and professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge and analytical enquiry. Our priority is that you gain an introduction to the Sounds of Intent framework of musical development for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This incorporates Developing and training students in terms of their academic and practical skills in music provision, using both fundamental theoretical and research issues. Providing opportunities for the application of new knowledge within your own professional context. For example, you will be able to develop and design a music curriculum for children with learning difficulties. Being introduced to a range of techniques required to promote the musical development of children with Special Educational Needs.
General entry requirements: You should usually hold a second-class honours degree (certain programmes may require a 2:1) from a recognised British or overseas university. Advice on recognition can be obtained from the Admissions Office. Non-graduates with appropriate professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis by Programme Conveners; contact details can be found on the individual programme page. Those with a third-class honours degree are encouraged to complete an application as we will consider an applicant's wider circumstances in making a decision on an application.
