As part of our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme, this course equips you with the skills and expertise needed to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators. You will develop the ability to teach core aspects of Design and Technology, including product design, resistant materials, systems and control, and food technology. The course blends university-based learning with hands-on experience, ensuring you gain both the theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills needed for success in the classroom. Placements in a range of schools, including urban, rural, and Welsh-medium settings, will provide valuable classroom experience. These placements will help you refine your teaching strategies, understand how to adapt lessons for different learners, and develop confidence in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons. The programme also emphasises essential teaching skills, such as classroom management, curriculum planning, and effective assessment methods. Throughout your school placements, you will receive mentorship and professional support, allowing you to develop a reflective and research-informed approach to teaching.
