Why choose PGCE Science with Chemistry (QTS) at Middlesex?
You will learn to operate as a critically reflective Chemistry teacher and develop competence across the entire range of the National Curriculum for Science. You will learn to integrate theory and practice, as part of a stimulating and ambitious curriculum.
This one-year full-time course, enables you to meet the national standards for the award of qualified teacher status (QTS).

The Science with Chemistry PGCE course has been developed with input from partnership schools. The curriculum allows you to develop a deep understanding of science pedagogy.
Key principles underpinning the curriculum:

•Developing knowledge and understanding of the progression of key concepts in science
•Opportunities to practise and put theory into practice, combined with regular and purposeful feedback
•Promoting science and cultural capital with our links to cultural and educational establishments
Modelling effective instruction and delivery in science, providing opportunities for critical reflection of practice.
We normally require a second-class honours degree 2:2 or above with at least 50% chemistry content supported by a strong A Level (or equivalent). We also accept the equivalency tests by Equivalency Testing, A Star Teachers or any other appropriately accredited provider. We cannot accept functional skills or key skills or IELTS. The following requirements are set out in the Initial Teacher Training Criteria document. You must have: GCSE grade C / grade 4 in English and mathematics or standard equivalent; been subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure check and/or any other appropriate background check; To strengthen applications it is recommended that you have obtained, or have set up to obtain, recent and relevant experience within state secondary school settings in England.
