Introduction
Continue your professional development as a teacher or lecturer in higher education. Support your practice with theory and make positive contributions to teaching and learning in the sector. Whether you are new or experienced in teaching in higher education, our course is for you. ARU’s PG Cert Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is a highly interactive distance learning course taught by active researchers in education. Studying part-time, you’ll be exposed to the very best teaching practice by our experienced team. We’ll encourage you to reflect on your own practice, learn from sharing practice with others, and develop an understanding of educational models framing higher education in contemporary university settings.
You’ll have access to our Canvas learning management system, which provides you with a wide range of teaching and learning resources. We’ll also give you plenty of opportunities to engage with the materials and other students. With the needs of the 21st century classroom and learners constantly changing, studying ARU’s PG Cert Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is a great way to enhance your knowledge and skills and progress in your career. Please note that in order to meet the course requirements you must currently be teaching and supporting learning and assessment in the higher education sector, both when you apply and throughout the course.
How you'll be assessed
You’ll also explore theoretical frameworks relating to formative assessment, feedback and feed-forward as ways of promoting learning. You’ll develop skills in using these and help devise assessment criteria to be used in assessing your own work.
