The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of the students who undertake them. **About the Course**The purpose of the HND in Performing Arts is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the Performing Arts and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of the students who undertake them. Not only does the HND provide students with academic understanding, it also enhances their career prospects and contribute to their personal development. The Higher National Diploma qualification embeds throughout the programme the development of key skills, attributes and strengths required by 21st century employers; this generally refers to skills in five main categories:Cognitive and problem-solving skills (e.g. critical thinking, problem solving, generating and communicating ideas creatively)Intra-personal skills (e.g. adaptability and resilience, self-analysis and reflection, planning and prioritising)Interpersonal skills (e.g. effective communication, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing)Commercial skills (e.g. sector awareness; marketing/promotion; budget management/monitoring)Business skills (e.g. company formation, invoicing, calculating fees, business management)**Delivery Mode**The Higher National Diploma (HND) is a Level 4 and Level 5 qualification made up of 240 credits. It is usually studied full-time over two years. Usually students studying the HND would have achieved at least 90 credits at Level 4 before progressing to Level 5 units. Students who successfully complete this course would also be well placed to undertake further study in a specialist area (e.g. wig making, period hair and make-up, prosthetics etc.). **Future Opportunities** After completing a BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma, students can also progress directly into employment.
