Performance MA

Rose Bruford College

Beautiful grounds surrounding college, feels out of London but close enough on train into central London. Very creative, sometimes chaotic. Wi-Fi needs improvement as often unreliable.

The best aspect is the course - Queer Performance MA is such a wonderful course and I feel so lucky to be part of it. The course leaders are great and I think it's so important that it exists. I think the only things that could be improved is some technical things like there seem to be constant internet issues and sometimes it can be really hard to get hold of technicians for prop appointments etc.

Centralised learning, sufficient materials, and supportive admin, however, there is some need for more facilities for projects and space usage bookings.

I recently finished the MA Queer Performance at RBC and absolutely LOVED my time there! I came into the course as one type of artist, and closed myself off to so many possibilities for directions my practice could take me. This course opened up those possibilities and brought my love for creation and performing back to life. Having lecturers that are currently working in the industry and visiting artists who I've admired for years gave me the confidence to further pursure new developments in my practice and I'm super grateful for the opportunities. The course is really valued as part of the school's courses and I nevef felt at any point that my queerness or doing a queer performance MA was something to be hidden or relegated to the shadows, the passion and joy from all the staff was never restricted to me because of my queerness My only gripe the whole time I was there (which is no fault of the teaching and course) was the systems around using technology. Coming from a media-centred undergrad, it was strange to me that there were no booking systems in place to see what tech was available from the uni or to see if it was bookable. The editing software I needed during my final project was only available on some computers in the IT lounge, and there wasn't any real signposting in how to access these computers as it wasnt your student number and password needed to log in. I definitely feel that these processes would've alleviated some of the stress in my creative outputs and explorations. However, despite these challenges, the tech team at the university were nothing but helpful and really went all out to make sure I had access to the things I needed. No ask was too great, and Im so grateful for their time Overall, I would super recommend this course and encourage anyone who's thinking about it to go for it. I am a better artists and have a more varied and informed practice thanks to the teaching, guidance and support of everyone on this course Thank you, from the bottom of my lil queer heart <3

Being a student at Rose Bruford you would be supported the whole way through your studies. The teachers actually care about your work and helping you get the best grades you can get. The facilities are amazing and the campus is very aesthetic.
