Who is the course for
The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the computing sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. In addition, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in computing give students experience of the breadth and depth that will prepare students for further study or training. The programme is a non-specialist ‘Computing pathway, without committing to a particular professional specialism. As a result, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing programme is valued by companies and employers, and is perfect for individuals who wish to have a more of a ‘hands-on experience with their studies and is also valuable in preparing students for life at university.
Study methods
75% classroom-based learning supervised by a tutor
20% work-based learning supervised by a tutor
5% e-Learning supervised by a tutor in real time, guest speakers and field trips (Optional).
Students will attend college for 14 hours – over three days. Students are expected to complete approximately 22.5 hours per week of independent study (i.e. on research in LRC and completing assignments).
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is through a series of assignments including 95% written assignments, 4% group work, 1% presentations.
