University of Hertfordshire

I have been really impressed with all of the support available at the uni. I did my bachelors through the OU so it was mainly self directed study. This is my first experience of being at a physical uni. The one thing I am struggling with is how big the place is. It's quite overwhelming.

It’s a big campus that is clean and easy to navigate. Has guest vendors and good facilities The access via public transport could be improved and the buses to park and ride are unreliable and expensive for what it is

A lot of good resources and support academic wise. Amazing location with a lot of good transport 15 mins away from London. Beautiful campus and accommodation, a lot of security. However, staff can be quite rude and not so supportive when living on campus and seem like they don’t really want to help and are not bothered to.

It is a great place to study because everything is on the 2 campuses, including libraries, places to study as well as a gym to take your mind off things and places to relax. The campuses are a 20 minute walk or the shuttle bus away, so access is very easy. Something that could improve the uni experience is the buses running more smoothly so there is less stress on being late.

For starters, as a first year university student I was very easily overwhelmed and often found myself isolating myself and struggling alone. Reaching our to staff members, student well being and other services the university offered allowed me to completely change my views on the entire university experience. Everyone here at herts are incredibly supportive and helpful! Academically, there is so much support available online and face to face to assist you with course work, exams and in class tests. Lecturers go above and beyond to support students with their academic needs and they even try their hardest to give students fair treatment during difficult personal matters. One such way they can improve is a more generic way, by giving more detailed feedback on assignments. However in most cases its much easier to contact the assessor for direct feedback and have a discussion about the assignment. Lecturers at herts often give you plenty of opportunities to reach out and have a discussion so there's nothing to worry about!
