The postgraduate course is ideal for a wide range of educationalists who want to inspire and transform the prospects of others – including teachers, as well as those seeking a career in educational leadership and management, policy making and educational consultancy. Our education graduates have gone on to diverse careers in educational settings such as schools and universities, as well as in politics, the civil service, policy think tanks, business, national and international NGOs, local authority and creative industries, both in the UK and internationally.

This part-time course has been specifically designed with the demanding lives of full-time professionals and individuals with family responsibilities in mind. The flexible design of the course means that you can develop your own independent study schedule and access academic content at times that suit you. This enables you to study around full-time work and family commitments, developing your professional experience without the need to make drastic life changes such as taking a potentially costly study break.

This postgraduate degree has six starts a year, so youre not restricted by the traditional academic year and can begin your studies within weeks.

With the course being delivered entirely online, all teaching and studying can be completed without ever needing to visit campus for face-to-face sessions, which makes it an excellent fit for working professionals, across the UK and around the world.

Within our carefully tailored online learning environment you will interact and collaborate with tutors and fellow postgraduate students from across the globe, in group learning activities and discussion groups via online forums. This provides you with a rare and invaluable opportunity to develop your global professional network.

What you will learn

The distance learning MA Education develops critical and theoretical perspectives across the broad field of education. It enables you to approach education as a multi-dimensional discipline, exploring educational issues through economic, social, political and professional lenses. It progresses your professional development and equips you to reflect critically on aspects of your own practice, and widen your understanding of the latest teaching developments and education research at local, regional, national and international levels. Throughout your education studies, you will explore the changing world of education in the context of social, political, economic and cultural globalisation.
