Swansea University

The location is unbeatable with such a wonderful beach access! The library is accessible, there are ample accommodations for students with disabilities, and there are food options on campus. However, the facilities for societies/clubs could be improved as the booking system often makes society events difficult to plan.

Swansea University is great place to study because of the support and resources available to students. The lecturers and the school offers a personalized learning through interactive sessions such as seminars and personal meetings which can be arranged to help students understand the modules and the courses. As a postgraduate student, I have immensely benefitted from the available school resources and on top of that, the library also offers learning sessions for research and referencing which have been very handy in my research. The University is also located in a great location and is accessible through various means of transport making it a preferable choice. Finally, the diversity of students all over the world offers an opportunity to interact with different cultures and appreciate the same.

I think Swansea University is a great place to study because it offers a strong balance between academic quality, student support, and lifestyle. From my experience, the university has a good academic reputation, with many courses well regarded in the UK and beyond, and I’ve found that the teaching staff are generally approachable, supportive, and invested in helping students succeed. There is a strong focus on research and employability, which makes my degree feel valuable and relevant to future careers. The campus environments are another major positive for me: Singleton Campus is set in a beautiful park and is right next to the beach. Being able to study in such a scenic coastal location really improves my overall well-being and makes it easier to maintain a healthy work–life balance. I also appreciate that Swansea is more affordable than many other university cities, which reduces financial pressure, and that the university takes sustainability and ethical responsibility seriously. However, I do think there are areas where Swansea University could improve. Accommodation quality can be inconsistent, especially in some of the older residences, and this can affect the overall student experience. Transport between Singleton Campus and the city centre is another challenge, as buses are not always reliable or frequent, particularly in the evenings. While I enjoy the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of Swansea, I sometimes feel that the city has fewer nightlife, cultural, and entertainment options compared to larger cities. Finally, I’ve noticed that experiences can vary depending on the course or department, with some being better organised than others, suggesting that more consistency across faculties would be beneficial. Overall, my experience at Swansea University has been very positive, and with improvements to accommodation, transport, and city-based student facilities, it could be an even better place to study

Swansea university is a fantastic university. Not only is it located in a beautiful area close to the town and beach, but the quality of student support here is outstanding. There are so many different kinds of support you can receive including general mental health support and disability support. The staff are incredibly kind and understanding, I’ve not had a single bad experience interacting with any staff, every experience has been positive and lovely. My course material is thorough and useful for assignments and exams. You can tell that lecturers and the team care about their students and their learning. As of right now, I wouldn’t change anything about Swansea university - the only issues I have are related to the bus which is out of the university’s hands unfortunately. It’s a fantastic uni and I will be recommending others to study here too.

Best- the support lectures and personal tutors give if you ask or say you’re not understanding they do everything to help you and explain to you. Worst- the student placement team, I feel they’re not fully adapted to all courses offering placement years yet as my course and year is the 1st or 2nd year to complete the year in industry. I feel they have not built enough connections in this field, not fully supported to help students in this situation.
