Course Overview
The aim of the MSc Occupational Safety, Health and Wellbeing Masters is to enable practitioners to develop holistic approaches to enhancing organisational safety and health through improved worker engagement and wellbeing. The masters degree is designed to enhance the students current understanding and application of occupational health and safety management by enabling students to develop a more holistic approach to influencing worker and organisational performance through the contemporary concepts of worker engagement and wellbeing.
Assessment
To reflect the applied nature of study, the programme contains no unseen written examinations. Instead, assessments include: Written assessments - such as reports, essays, case studies and an academic poster; Oral assessments - Oral presentation and professional viva. Assessment tasks encourage students to select specific topics of study that are relevant to them and their practice. Students can exit at Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma levels.
Employability & Careers
The IOSH salary survey (2016) indicates that the average salary for a Health and Safety professional with a master's degree qualification is £50,000. Many Graduates are now in Senior Management and Director Level positions. Other Graduates have gone on to undertake a PhD and to teach, either in Cardiff Met or other universities across the world.
Applicants from all sector both here in the UK and elsewhere from across the world: Potential students are normally expected to have a degree in a discipline relating to occupational safety and health; However, candidates with other relevant qualifications or experience in occupational safety and health, or an allied profession, will be considered.
