Our Nursing with Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) course will enable you to develop the core skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours that are essential when youre caring for people with learning disabilities. Registered learning disabilities nurses may also work with autistic people and people with acquired brain injuries. Youll gain the skills required to practice nursing effectively and professionally in a variety of health and social care settings, with an emphasis on compassion, communication and dignity in care. People with learning disabilities and autistic people can experience greater health inequalities than many other people in society. As a learning disabilities nurse, you will deliver specialist healthcare to children and adults in a wide range of settings. This includes peoples homes, specialist clinics, hospitals, nursing and residential homes, hospices and forensic settings. Learning disabilities nurses work in multi-disciplinary teams with the person, their family and carers, and other health and social care professionals to promote independent and fulfilling lives.
