On your first assessed placement you will practice in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognise your own limitations. You will apply the biopsychosocial-spiritual model to nursing in order to maximise the health and wellbeing of people and their families and develop fundamental clinical skills. You will work in partnership with others, including teams, ensuring equality and diversity are respected. You will use a range of evidence which inform practice, judgement and clinical decisions, considering the strengths and limitations of the evidence base.
You will experience practice and have the opportunity to reflect on your experience in relation to the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognising own limitations. You will learn how to search for, identify and use sources of evidence recognising that nursing practice is an evidence-based discipline. The biopsychosocial-spiritual model of health and well-being will be explored, and you will be able to discuss the application of this to your field of practice, personal and professional development. This module includes one week of clinical practice.
You will be able to practise in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing and recognise own limitations. You will apply the biopsychosocial-spiritual model of health and wellbeing to partnership working; including a consideration of barriers. You will reflect on practice and consider different approaches to delivering care. You will Identify how particular research designs answer different research questions. This is the final module of year 1. Towards the end of the module you are expected to undertake guided independent work as preparation for year 2.
You will discuss the attitudes, values and biopsychosocial-spiritual conditions that promote and restrict health and wellbeing for people with long-term conditions and the impact these have on their quality of life. You will critically appraise the influence culture and diversity have on health and well-being and the impact these have on quality of life. You will critically appraise the evidence base that underpins public health, public mental health, health promotion and prevention. You will access and review research evidence in conjunction with service user, carer and family narratives to critically evaluate the impact of interventions on health and wellbeing. You will describe and evaluate behaviour change strategies.
You will practice in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognise own limitations. You work effectively with members of the intra- and inter-professional teams, non-statutory agencies, people and their families to provide high quality, safe care across a wide range of integrated care settings. You will critically evaluate the principles of partnership working with hard to reach groups and in challenging situations, including people and their families in shared decision-making. You will critically appraise and evaluate digital and innovative technologies to meet identified needs in protecting and promoting health and wellbeing.
You will undertake your second assessed practice placement. You will demonstrate the ability to practice in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognise your own limitations. You will evaluate measures of quality and assess their impact. You will articulate and evaluate approaches to risk. You will evaluate new technologies and their impact on health (including genomic data, digital technologies and artificial intelligence). You will demonstrate co-ordination of individual patient care and delegation skills within the context of team-working
You will practice in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognise own limitations. You will be able to critically evaluate the care requirements for individuals with complex needs to facilitate optimal recovery or end of life care. You will be able to recognise and respond to the mental and physical deterioration of a person demonstrating evidence-based decisions. You will critically evaluate the impact of interventions for people and their families. Within this module you can undertake a non-assessed international placement. You will complete your fourth assessed placement.
You will practice in accordance with the recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks that guide nursing practice and recognise own limitations. You will critically analyse and evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses that need addressing in terms of role transition. You will demonstrate effective leadership skills in managing self and others to ensure the continuity and coordination of care. You will critically reflect on the dominant culture within an organisation and/or team and articulate the impact this could have on the quality and safety of patient care.
Students will undertake a critical literature review to answer a research question based on an area of own nursing practice.
