Nursing (Adult and Learning Disabilities) - MSci (Hons)

Edge Hill University

This university has one of the best campuses in the UK its very peaceful especially when I want to study and have a nice view. The teaching is also excellent and very helpful. There are also many societies and events that students can get involved in and make new and lifelong friends in. There is nothing that needs improving.

The uni campus is so beautiful and peaceful, it’s amazing to hang out with friends, go for a walk, or just chill between lectures. The staff are all so friendly which makes Edge Hill so good, it feels safe and warm.

The uni is modern and the uni grounds are lovely and well kept. The facilities such as the gym and catalyst (library) are a great addition. As I commute a long distance to uni the free commuters breakfast is a great way for me to meet other people that travel in and would not usually speak too. I don't have anything to add about improvements.

Best aspects are my lecturers, the sense of community and the layout of campus/ great facilities such as the catalyst. Improvment- more accomodating in regards to visitors overnight. I.e. security putting the barriers up to drive onto accomodation carpark for instances where theres heavy objects to move. Instead of having to walk all the way from the main campus carpark.

ive used many of the services edge hill offers such as spld support, help from the wellbeing team, help from inclusion, help from catalyst staff, help from accommodation and theyve all replied really quickly and been actually useful. i love my course (child nursing) and most of the lecturers and really nice. the simulation building is awesome those dummies are so realistic that its a little bit creepy. we get put on placement in really good hospitals like alder hey which definitely helps with our learning and ability to pass placement. i don’t personally interact much with the student union because its not really my thing and my course is really full on but i have been to a few events (dress as your course being my favourite) and i always see how many events they put on and it’s really great to just have the choice to go to these things. there are so so many societies that you can interact with under the su too. the new su building will be built by september too so i will definitely be going to more events. the accommodation is really nice too like i’ve decorated my room with pictures and posters and a leaf vine to make it feel more like home and now i love it. i was on campus last year, im on campus this year, and ive booked to be on campus next year all in different buildings and they’ve all been really nice. not everyone will the the choice to do that but im glad that i do. they’re also affordable too, i only get a small amount of student finance so have to work but my accommodation is still covered under my student loan compared to my friends at other universities who get more than me and it still isn’t covered. i also just love the campus vibe like its so beautiful with the ponds and the amazing ‘beach’ and the catalyst (library) roof top garden. i also love studying in the catalyst i always get so much work done in there. the only problem ive ever really had is with one lecturer (of a team of really really nice lecturers, so luckily i didn’t see her too often) last year that i didn’t really like but that’s genuinely been it. i don’t have her this year so i don’t actually have any problems with the uni anymore. i like ormskirk (where the uni is) because its got all the shops you need instead of the shops you want so i don’t spend all my money on unnecessary things when shopping in ormskirk which is good for my bank. its also only a 30 min train ride away from liverpool where you will definitely spend all your money, especially on liverpool night outs.

Student union was amazing first year but it feels like we’re missing out second and third year. The support is incredible from university but organisation can be poor in nursing courses.
