Why this course?
Marine vehicles have developed dramatically in recent years. Lighter, faster, stronger, greener and safer vehicles are being designed and built using advanced materials and technology combined with creative design engineering.
This course creates designers with all the core skills of ship design, construction, operation and maintenance. They also have a particular specialisation in the creative design and engineering of high performance leisure and commercial vehicles, including sailing and power yachts, fast ferries, hydrofoils, hovercraft, fishing boats and the concept designs of the future.
All our courses offer you the chance to take classes in specialist subjects such as high performance marine vehicles, marine engineering or ocean engineering.

With skills including analytical, numeracy and problem-solving Naval Architecture and High Performance Marine Vehicles graduates are suited to a wide range of career opportunities.
Our graduates work in Defence, Marine Designers, Oil and Gas – subsea, on-shore/off-shore, Ship classification, Technical Services, Engineering consulting. Job titles include Naval Architect, Junior Naval Architect, Ship Surveyor, Marine Engineer and Project Engineer.
Some graduates go on to postgraduate study or research.
