Why Study Music and Sound for Screen BA(Hons) at University of Huddersfield?

You’ll have the chance to explore the latest new music in the annual Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and get up-close and experience contemporary music in action at the Electric Spring Festival. Benefit, also, from the unique chance to train with staff who are active film composers working in the UK, Europe, and Los Angeles. Choose this course and you can submit your work to professional music production libraries too. Visiting artists will attend the University to offer insight into post-University opportunities; past visitors have included John Warhurst, Oscar and Bafta winning Sound Editor and Huddersfield alumnus, and Nitin Sawhney, producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and orchestral composer. If you want to develop your industry contacts and professional portfolio, we’ll help you; several of our students have had their tracks selected for use in Channel 4 and BBC programmes. You’ll also gain real-world experience on a work placement, with this course setting you up for a potential role within audiovisual media. We offer training in film music composition, sound design, foley, orchestration for live and virtual instruments, conducting, and performance. Plus, 100% of graduates from this course are in work and/or further study 15 months after graduating (Unistats 20/21 data, UK domiciled graduates).
