Ultrasound Imaging has revolutionised patient diagnosis and management, leading to a growing demand across various healthcare settings.

The University of Salford's MSc Ultrasound Imaging programme addresses this need with comprehensive training designed to support the diverse applications of ultrasound in clinical practice.

You will:

  • Benefit from our close links with NHS Clinical Providers.
  • Have the opportunity to gain hands on experience support by virtual simulators.
  • Be taught by lecturers of national and international standing.

This is for you if...

  1. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  2. You have the ability to work under pressure.
  3. You are hardworking and dedicated to developing your knowledge.

All about the course

The programme includes core mandatory modules, named clinical modules, and negotiated modules to cater to individual learning needs. It is tailored for a range of healthcare professionals looking to develop their ultrasound practice.

On successful completion: You will gain evidence of clinical competency, which supports employment in various settings. Note that while sonography is not a registerable healthcare profession, and the title 'sonographer' is not protected, many organisations, including some NHS Trusts and private entities, do employ sonographers from diverse backgrounds.

You will:

  • Receive training in clinical ultrasound to meet the increasing demand for this imaging tool.
  • Benefit from a flexible part-time pathway that suits a wide range of healthcare professionals.
  • Gain competence in ultrasound practice through evidence of clinical competency upon completion of the programme or individual modules.

Please note: Employment in some NHS Trusts and private organisations may require professional registration, which might be a barrier for those from non-healthcare backgrounds.
