Our MSc Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship equips you with the knowledge and skills to understand social innovation, as well as to think about how to finance and launch successful entrepreneurial ventures with social goals. The curriculum draws on the latest social innovation and entrepreneurship research as well as and practical insights from our network of entrepreneurs and social organisations worldwide. Social entrepreneurship is a rapidly expanding field that calls for academic rigour alongside practical solutions. Stand out from the crowd with this LSE degree that will equip you with a robust foundation of theoretical and conceptual knowledge, combined with practical experience working with a social enterprise or small business in a developing country. Through this hands-on experience, you'll learn to critically analyse the root cause of social issues in a specific social, economic and political context and design evidence-based solutions. Finalise your study with a dissertation in the form of an in-depth research project or have the option to work on developing your own ideas towards establishing your own social enterprise. Previous projects have involved sustainable home farming, and childcare in Cape Town, removing cyanide from the water in rural Bangladesh and community-driven affordable STEM education in Nairobi. This programme is perfect if you’re looking to understand social innovation and entrepreneurship, especially within a developing country, or to become a social entrepreneur.
Undergraduate degree at 2.1 level or above, or international equivalent. Applicants from any academic background are welcomed. Students admitted to the programme would normally have 2 or more years' relevant work experience. However applicants with less experience (for example an internship) are also welcome to apply.
