With safety, health and environmental issues becoming increasingly important, there is a growing demand for professionals with the right skills.

The MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management degree produces such health and safety practitioners, who can identify, assess, and solve health, safety, and environmental problems by applying the principles of good management. You will develop your knowledge of technical subject areas through an extension into managing health and safety while giving due consideration to the sustainable economic development of business and the environment.

The course is professionally recognised and accredited by both the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IISRM). These accreditations offer a range of benefits to student members, such as career support and advice, access to a range of workshops, masterclasses, mentoring, CPD and networking opportunities. Graduates can then apply and progress towards the IIRSM fellow status and IOSH graduate status.

CAREERS

This programme has been accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Enrolled students can access IOSH Student Membership for the duration of their studies and, on successful completion, they will meet the academic requirements for Graduate (Grad IOSH) membership.

Graduate membership is the gateway to Chartered status. As IOSH is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners, this can help you achieve the highest professional standards and gain international recognition.

Our strong industrial and commercial links help us tailor our courses to meet employer’s needs, and ensure you graduate with the right skills to develop an exciting, dynamic career in construction. This industry relationship has been formalised into the Built Environment Strategic Forum (BESF). The mutual benefits arising from this university/industry partnership are significant and guarantee enhanced employability potential to our students and graduates.

Career prospects are excellent, particularly as employers value the skills and experience you will gain through the MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management degree. Opportunities exist in a variety of organisations, including environmental protection, and occupational safety and health in private and public sectors.
