MSc Psychological Therapies Practice and Research (Systemic Therapy)

University of Exeter

I have just started but haven’t had an induction and not sure where these are offered so finding it hard to navigate around the campus. This also includes online and using ELE which I do not understand.

University of Exeter is set in a beautiful area, the campus is clean and modern. All the teaching by staff are incredibly well educated and experts in their fields, the exceptional quality of teaching has to be the best thing about the university of Exeter. There are plenty of cafes and lovely peaceful places to sit, study, or have lunch, and the busy campus makes sitting alone or going about your day feel less lonely. There is an obvious class divide among students, so it can feel slightly isolating if you come from a working class background. The uni and the guild are taking steps to overcome classism, but they have a ways to go still. A lot of the societies have membership fee and can be on the expensive side and very few have free membership, which is different to other universities. Settling in and finding friends has been more difficult here than at my previous university and I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way..There is support and advice available for all aspects of student life if you know where to look for it and reach out. Furthermore, I was disappointed to have a module I was looking forward to cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with the teaching staff who also work outside the university. And not every course is accredited by the associations you’d expect so make sure to look into that before choosing a course, especially if you’re looking at a joint honours, to avoid issues further down the line. Overall, I enjoy the area, the teaching, and the campus itself. But it is easy to feel excluded and isolated, and course content isn’t always made clear or obvious before you start the course.
