Our clinical MSc/PGDip Advanced Pharmacy Practice is informed by the latest developments in primary and secondary care. Youll learn how to meet the challenges of current and emerging practice roles across all healthcare sectors.

In Year 1, well provide you with up-to-date information on clinical pharmacy, evidence-based medicine and public health.

Year 2 is flexible and youll be able to choose options to suit your interests. These include modules on integrated care, acute and emergency care, mental health, leadership and management. You'll also be awarded a qualification as an independent prescriber.

Your different options for this programme include:

  • 2 years PGDip (with independent prescribing)
  • 2 years PGDip (without independent prescribing)
  • 3 years MSc (with independent prescribing)
  • 3 years MSc (without independent prescribing)

Accreditations

The independent prescribing element of this MSc/PGDip Advanced Pharmacy Practice is subject to accreditation by the General Pharmaceutical Council.

On successful completion of this module, youll be awarded a practice certificate in Independent Prescribing for Pharmacists. Youll also be eligible to annotation on the General Pharmaceutical Councils (GPhC) register, to act as an independent prescriber.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants should have a Pharmacy degree and be currently registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Applicants must be working in or able to access a practice environment that will enable them to meet and achieve the course learning outcomes
  • Applications will be considered on its merits and in the light of the nature and scope of the programme
