Overview
If you're currently a trainee surgical care practitioner, working as part of a surgical team in a hospital and would like to develop your knowledge and skills, our part-time course accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England is for you.
The role of surgical care practitioner (or SCP) is a relatively new one, driven by the needs of hospitals and healthcare providers. SCPs manage the clinical care of patients but also assist with technical and operative interventions - overlapping with some of the care that's traditionally offered by doctors.
Careers
By completing this course you'll achieve an MSc Surgical Care Practice, which leads to the title of Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP). SCPs work in surgical teams in several specialities, including urology, trauma and orthopaedics, cardiothoracic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, neurosurgery, paediatrics, general, vascular, maxillofacial, otorhinolaryngology and gynaecology. You will gain intermediate awards: PG Cert, PG Dip.
For entry into a postgraduate taught course you'll need one of the following. A UK honours degree with lower second class honours (2:2). Relevant qualifications obtained in your home country, as per Anglia Ruskin's country-specific entry requirements.
