This unit explores organisations as embedded in socio-political environments. Students will be challenged to develop their understanding of various concepts such as: critical entrepreneurship, neo-liberalism, globalisation, leadership and the commons, eco-preneurship and social entrepreneurship with a view to developing ethically, socially and environmentally responsible graduates.
This unit investigates and introduces basic theories, concepts and application of financial accounting, management accounting and finance in a modern organisation. You are not expected to become proficient in specific aspects of the different financial tools and techniques discussed in the unit. Rather, as aspiring middle managers, you are expected to understand how the financial professional in an organisation can integrate with the other management functions to support and achieve the organisational strategic objectives.
This unit introduces the core concepts of logistics and supply chain management from both a global and regional perspective. The unit examines in detail the latest practices in logistics and supply chain management utilising real business examples, case studies and theory. These include supply chain analysis, order fulfilment, inventory policy, distribution centre operations, transport planning, sales and operations planning and ethical policies.
Go beyond the theory and look at marketing in its practical context. We?ll explore the different principles and models of strategic marketing and examine how they work in a competitive business.
This unit presents a systematic approach to the study of strategy building upon an array of ideas and theories ranging from industrial organisation theory and institutional economics. The first half of the unit outlines the fundamentals of strategic management and will give students an introduction in this important area of business management. The second half of the unit builds on the tools and techniques from the first half and is concerned with the strategic choices available to organisations to achieve competitive advantage in a global economy. The managerial decisions, processes and activities, that allow the creation and implementation of an effective global strategy are discussed and reflected-upon through a combination of theories and real-world case studies.
