Examine the forces shaping our world today on this MSc International Relations to prepare for a career in the ever-changing international sphere.

International relations span far beyond government alone, and is the core component of how states interact politically, economically and socially. On this master’s, you’ll explore current trends and developments to gain a critical understanding of the contemporary world order and the evolving methods and challenges of diplomacy in the digital age.

Develop your expertise decoding some of the pressing issues of today. What are the effects of digital transformation on foreign policy? How can states with different perspectives work together to solve or mitigate climate change? Who are the non-state actors influencing the global landscape – and how can states maintain power in this shifting dynamic?

An applied approach to current global issues

The course features in-depth study of the theories, concepts and methods of diplomacy. Specialise further in topics like international security, sport and politics, entrepreneurship in developing countries and peace-building.

You'll nurture an analytical mindset while getting to grips with vital negotiation, policy making and communication skills. Learn from leading academics and experts from government and industry – who bring insights and experience to prepare you for the realities of diplomacy-focused work.

Based in London, one of the world’s leading centres for policy and international relations, you’ll be well placed to connect with embassies, NGOs think tanks and global organisations. You’ll learn from academics, policy specialists and practitioners who bring insight from government, international agencies and industry.

The foundation to a career with international reach

This course will give you a broad perspective of diplomacy as a tool for international relations. It’s an ideal starting point for a career in government or cross-border business, giving you the know-how and skills to effect positive change in the areas that interest you.

It'll open doors to roles across diplomacy, policy, international relations and communications – in government, NGOs, business and more.
