This is a pathway of our International Business MSc course

This pathway combines what you learn in the International Business course with the skills and concepts of Political Marketing and Management.

The course covers how to use marketing and management in campaigns for political parties, governments, and parliaments.

Alongside International Business, you'll learn about:

  • Political marketing research, strategy and branding
  • Human resource management in political workplaces
  • Political communication and campaigning

This course helps you understand the challenges of marketing and management in politics and consider implications for society and democracy.

You will learn from both the International Business course and the specialist modules of Political Management.

This course positions you to pursue careers in areas like:

  • political organisations and political parties
  • campaign teams
  • parliaments
  • local government departments
  • political offices
  • external contractors in market research
  • communication consultancies who carry out work for political organisations
  • business government relations

You will take two core modules to learn concepts and applications of management and marketing in political settings.

You can then choose to add two more options from business and politics on topics such as:

  • place and nation branding
  • brand management
  • green politics
  • public policy

You will then do four international business modules. These topics will include strategy and managing multinational enterprises. These extend your awareness and knowledge of business concepts that apply to politics and government.

Teaching

Political Management modules focus on interactive discussions between you and your tutors. The core concepts cover political management and marketing. You also emphasise learning from past practice.

You will develop practical skills like:

  • political awareness
  • research
  • advising
  • problem-solving
  • finding effective solutions
