This dynamic course combines management studies with a strong specialist focus on global logistics, operations and supply chain management, and allows you to enhance your employability with a year of advanced practice. In the second year of this course you will have an opportunity to undertake an Industry Consultancy Project creating the opportunity for you to apply the knowledge and skills you have gained during your first year of study, to a real-life industry issue from a range of employers. This authentic learning context ensures that you experience what it feels like to work within a team on a contemporary project that has real relevance and impact. Working to a client's brief, with academic supervision, you will advance your ability to apply theoretical concepts and research skills to produce a practical recommendation to a challenging problem. We welcome applications from both business and non-business graduates, with an interest in a specialist Masters education. During the course you will develop your operation, production, service management, leadership competence and confidence skills within a business context. We will focus on applying these skills globally and in manufacturing, service and public sectors, in order to prepare you for a high-earning career in business. The course has the credibility of being accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) (CILT). Such accreditation facilitates the process of gaining chartered status, which is associated with higher salaries and promotions. The course includes a focus on developing leadership and management competencies. Topics studied include emotional intelligence, intellectual competence, cultural awareness and the ability to work in diverse groups and teams. There is a specific focus on self-development, including formal sessions with our Careers and Employment Service which offers a range of workshops, one-to-one advice, and networking opportunities. In the second year of the course you will be putting your new learning into practice. You will develop a track record of achievement that will help you stand out from other job applicants. We will help you find a project that matches your interests and career aspirations. A Business Logistics Masters course that takes two years, instead of just one, will carry particular weight with employers.
